Tips for Viewing Video Webcasts with RealPlayer

1. For best results, install the latest version of RealPlayer. See the link for a free download at the bottom of our Home Page.

2. Once installed, RealPlayer will automatically open and load when a live or archived webcast is selected.

3. "User Name" and "Password" are both case sensitive entries. Once signed in, User Names and Passwords are remembered only if RealPlayer is kept open. Access to each agency requires a subscription, but an individual user can use the same User Name and Password for multiple agency subscriptions.

4. The webcast window may be sized and moved according to preference:
  • Original Size (1x)
  • Double Size (2x)
  • Full Screen Theater

      A. Window sizing can be selected in the "View" menu in the options for "Zoom", by placing mouse in the top left corner of the video and selecting "1x", "2x" or the icon for Full Screen Theater, or by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner of the RealPlayer window to the desired size.

      B. "Full Screen" selection provides a full monitor size webcast view. Audio/Video controls are still available in this view. To return to a smaller window size from "Full Screen Theater" click the right mouse button and select the desired window size; place the mouse in the video display area of the window and select from the options at the top left of the window "1x", "2x" or "Restore Down" icon; or select "Single Size" or "Double Size" from "Menu" button at bottom right of window.

      C. Window location may be adjusted by placing the mouse pointer on the top section of RealPlayer window, clicking and holding the left mouse button, and placing the window at the desired location.

5. If RealPlayer is active (playing video), the window only dissolves if you select "Minimize" icon. You can still work on other programs with RealPlayer window up, but it stays on top of other programs. If video is stopped or has completed, you can click on the program desired, and the RealPlayer window minimizes automatically. Audio will not be interrupted in either case, unless the video is stopped or paused. When there is need to return to the video, select the RealPlayer program button at the bottom of the monitor screen to "restore" window.

6. The webcast will automatically "Play," or start when the user logs in and selects the program. During "Live" webcasts, the "Pause," and "Stop" buttons should only be used as necessary for phone calls or privacy. The "Pause" and "Stop" buttons will stop both the audio and video, and that portion of the live webcast will be lost. If the "Pause" or "Stop" buttons are wittingly, or unwittingly, selected, select the "Play" button to restart the webcast in its real time programming.

7. During "Archived" webcasts, the "Pause," and "Stop" buttons have different functions. The "Pause" button will temporarily stop the audio and video program at a selected place. The "Play" button will restart the audio and video program at the place "Pause" was selected. The "Stop" will stop the audio and video program and will revert to the beginning of the archived session. After "Stop" is selected, the "Play" button restarts the selected archived from the beginning.

8. During "Archived" webcasts, the "Fast Forward" and "Fast Rewind" buttons are available to find or return to a specific portion of the webcast. Click and hold the left mouse button over the desired function button until desired time on counter has been reached, then release the mouse button. Or use the "Clip Position" slide bar by clicking the marker, hold and drag to desired position on counter at top right corner of window, and release the mouse button. The larger the window size, the more incremental the adjustments can be. The video will reload and play at the selected time.

9. Audio levels may be adjusted at the "Volume Slide" below the video section of the RealPlayer window. Place the mouse pointer on the slide, click and hold the left button, and move the slide to the right (louder), or to the left (lower). When the right sound level is achieved on the slide, release the mouse button. Click on the speaker icon to mute audio; click again to regain audio. Or select "Up", "Down" or "Mute" from the Volume options of the "Play" menu. Adjust audio quality with "Equalizer" option from "Tools" menu.

10. Picture quality may be adjusted (color and sharpness) by selecting "Video Controls" from "Tools" menu.
