NewYorkAdmin Closed Captioning Instructions

NewYorkAdmin now offers Closed Captioning (CC) for both RealPlayer and Windows Media Player formats.

PLEASE NOTE: With both formats, you will lose the captioning if you fast forward or rewind.

RealPlayer Users:
From Tools menu (if not visible, click grey double right arrow in top bar of player window), select Preferences. From Category menu at left, select Content. Under the Accessibility section of the Content menu at right, check both boxes for Use supplemental text captioning when available. and Use descriptive audio when available. Click OK.

To activate these changes, you must close the Player window and select the video link of choice. Closed Captioning should appear. This will be your default setting going forward until you go through the above steps to turn CC off by un-checking the boxes.

Windows Media Player Users:

Turn CC on:
From Play menu, select Captions and Subtitles and then On if Available. If you are using Player 10, you will find the menus under the blue down arrow button at the top right of the player window.

To activate these changes, you must close the Player window and select the video link of choice. Closed Captioning should appear. This will be your default setting going forward until you go through the above steps to turn CC off by deselecting On if Available.
